Transport

Out transport project aims to provide transport for members of our community who for a variety of reasons are unable to use public transport to get themselves to appointments. This could be due to the lack of public transport available, age, mobility issues, disabilities or health conditions that would prevent someone using public transport.
As part of our funding from Derbyshire County Council we work in partnership with Connex Community Support in Buxton, The Bureau Glossop and Bakewell & Eyam Community Transport to ensure that people across the High Peak can access medical appointments.
Our transport coordinator Hannah has a team of friendly volunteers who use their own cars to take people to medical appointments. Our volunteers will also wait for up to two hours with you and then take you home again (the volunteer however can't act as a carer).
We can take you to any medical appointment that you have including GP appointments, Opticians, Dentist, Clinics, Physiotherapists and Hospitals. We have drivers who will stay local in and around New mills and we also have drivers who will take you to hospital appointments further afield.
We ask for at least two working days notice for appointments, but in reality with the popularity of the project we would struggle to accommodate requests not make a week in advance.
We are unable to take everyone to appointments, we would be unable to take you if you are under 18, we also can't cater for people with severe mental health conditions or learning difficulties unless they meet certain criteria and are accompanied by an appropriate adult. We are also unable to take people who can't transfer in and out of a car unaided.
If you are unsure if you qualify for transport, would like more information or would like to register for the scheme, contact our transport coordinator Hannah.
A charge is made for the service to cover costs.
