The people behind New Mills Volunteer Centre
New Mills Volunteer Centre is run by a small staff team, supported by volunteers and guided by a Board of Trustees.
Together, they help keep the Centre running day to day, support local volunteers, organise services and make sure the charity continues to meet the needs of people across New Mills and the surrounding area.

Mark Allen
Centre Manager
Mark looks after the day-to-day running of the Centre and works with the team, trustees, volunteers and local partners to keep services moving.

Julie Slack
Office Administrator
Julie helps keep the office running smoothly and is often one of the people making sure calls, messages and everyday admin are dealt with.

Hannah Kitson
Transport Coordinator
Hannah coordinates transport requests and helps match people with volunteer drivers so they can get to important appointments.

Lorna Young
Marketing & Group Development Coordinator
Lorna helps share what’s happening at the Centre and supports the development of groups, activities and community updates.

Fiona Stanier
Befriending Coordinator
Fiona coordinates the befriending service, helping match people with volunteers for regular calls, visits and friendly support.
Jeanette Howard
Centre Caretaker
Jeanette helps keep the Centre clean, welcoming and ready for the people who use it each week.
Our volunteers
Our staff team is supported by volunteers across many areas of the Centre.
Volunteers help with transport, befriending, groups, office support, events and other activities. Their time, care and local knowledge make a huge difference to what the Centre can offer.

Our Board of Trustees
New Mills Volunteer Centre is also guided by a Board of Trustees. Trustees are volunteers who help make sure the charity is well run, financially responsible and focused on the needs of the local community.
Tony Ashton: Chair
Tony leads the Board of Trustees and helps guide the Centre’s direction and decision-making.
Liz Treacy: Vice Chair
Liz supports the Chair and trustees in making sure the Centre is well run and focused on the local community.
Hazel Body: Treasurer
Hazel helps oversee the Centre’s finances and supports the Board in keeping the charity financially responsible.
The Board meets regularly to review the running of the Centre, support future planning and make key decisions about how the charity is managed.
How the Centre is run
New Mills Volunteer Centre is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. The Centre is overseen by a Board of Trustees, who help guide its policies, finances and future direction.
Trustees are volunteers. They meet regularly to review how the Centre is running, make decisions about the charity and make sure the Centre continues to work in the best interests of the local community.
The Centre Manager attends Board meetings and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Centre, working with the staff team, volunteers, trustees and local partners.
The Centre also works with local councils, funders and community organisations, while remaining an independent charity.
